Intensifying food production in urban areas, the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center 1 (ATI-RTC 1) and the Local Government Unit of Dagupan City launched the Urban Agriculture Garden at Brgy. Tebeng, Dagupan City on March 3, 2023.

The launching program was spearheaded by Dagupan City Mayor Belen Fernandez and she cited in her message the importance of producing own food and having a garden even in a small space.

Meanwhile, ATI-RTC 1 Center Director Dr. Rogelio C. Evangelista congratulated again the said barangay for being chosen as one of the community recipients of the centerโ€™s Urban Agriculture Program last year. He also expressed the continuous support of the center to the community as he enumerated trainings and other extension services that they can avail of to sustain their garden activities.

Highlights of the event also include a ribbon cutting and tour at the garden and awarding of vegetable seedlings to the residents of Brgy. Tebeng. Brgy. Captain Ms. Helen Fermill encouraged the residents of the said barangay to maintain this project as this will give them safe and available food.

Present also during the program were Dagupan City Vice Mayor Bryan Cua, Councilor Michael Fernandez, Councilor Dennis Canto; City Local Government Operations Officer Ms. Romarie Soriano; City Agriculture Officer-in-Charge Mr. Patrick Dizon; and Tebeng Elementary School Principal Ms. Edwina Carrera.

Other recipients of the Urban Agriculture Garden establishment granted last year were Brgy. Camagsingalan, Sual, Pangasinan; San Roque Elementary School in Brgy. San Roque, San Jacinto, Pangasinan; Lananpin National High School in Brgy. Pinmaludpod, Urdaneta City, Pangasinan; and David Elementary School in Brgy. David, Mangaldan, Pangasinan.
