The Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center (DA-ATI-RTC 1), in partnership with the National Meat Inspection Service - Regional Technical Operation Center 1 (NMIS-RTOC 1), conducted a Training on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) on June 9–11, 2025, at Mariano Marcos State University, City of Batac, Ilocos Norte.
A total of 30 meat inspectors and slaughterhouse masters participated in a three-day training, which aimed to enhance their knowledge and skills to ensure the delivery of safe and high-quality meat products to consumers.
The training combined theoretical sessions and hands-on activities. Participants took part in discussions on sanitation protocols, hazard analysis, and standard operating procedures. These were complemented by a practical site visit to the Venvi Slaughterhouse, where participants conducted monitoring and inspection exercises during actual operations.
As part of their re-entry plan, participants are expected to craft a GMP Manual for their respective slaughterhouses, to be submitted by the end of July 2025. This initiative seeks to reinforce standardized practices and strengthen compliance with national meat safety regulations across the region.
