A 5-day Training on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) for Upland Rice Production was conducted recently by the Agricultural Training Institute - Regional Training Center X ( ATI-RTC X) through its Career Development and Management Section from March 31 to April 4, 2025 in Casisang, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.
Invited resource persons Ms. Caren A. Libre, Agriculturist II from DA-RFO X, and Provincial Agriculturist Ms. Maria Lilith M. Turan of PAGRO Bukidnon, discussed the topics on GAP Policies and Guidelines, and management practices of upland rice production. Mr. Bryan Jay V. Cabugwason, DMO I, of ATI-RTC X also discussed on Integrated Rice-Based Farming System “Palayamanan.”
Thirty AEW participants across the region attended the comprehensive training to equip their knowledge, skills, and upgrade their management practices in upland rice production and to further enhance and promote sustainable agriculture and improve the livelihoods of the farmers in their respective communities. By implementing GAP, farmers can utilize sustainable practices that improve soil health, optimize water use, and reduce reliance on chemical inputs, ultimately leading to more resilient farming systems.
The participants were also immersed on different upland rice varieties and the best practices in maintaining such during their field visit at Poblacion, Cabanglasan, Bukidnon where they visited the rice production site of Mrs. Nedy Lumisig, a resident of the said area.
