Sherwin Khen Maderse Tavita, a graduate intern of the Filipino Young Farmers Internship Program in Taiwan Batch 6, was recognized as one of the Top 3 Outstanding Agribusiness Proposal awardees during the National Agribusiness Pitching held on May 25 to June 1, 2026 via Zoom. Hosted by the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) Central Office, the virtual event was conducted via Zoom.
There were 50 graduate interns who participated in the pitching from the different regions across the country. The activity served as an avenue for the interns to present their agribusiness plans, showcase their learning experiences from Taiwan, and demonstrate how science, innovation, and entrepreneurship can be applied in the Philippine agriculture sector.
Tavita’s winning proposal, titled “Aquaculture: Maximizing Production through Science and Innovation,” focuses on the production of Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). His proposal emphasized the importance of producing tilapia that is safe, healthy, and tasty while maximizing production through improved aquaculture practices and innovative technologies.
The proposal highlighted the potential of tilapia farming as a sustainable agribusiness venture that can support food security, livelihood development, and the growing demand for quality fish products in the market.
Securing a spot among the Top 3 Outstanding Agribusiness Proposals reflects Tavita’s dedication, creativity, and commitment to applying the knowledge and skills he gained from the internship program. His achievement also serves as an inspiration and benchmark to fellow young farmers to develop innovative, practical, and market-oriented agricultural enterprises.
The Filipino Young Farmers Internship Program in Taiwan continues to empower young Filipino farmers by strengthening their technical skills, entrepreneurial mindset, and leadership capacity in agriculture.
