Twenty Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) completed a five-day training on the Fundamentals of Crop-based Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture Technologies held on March 23–27, 2026, across Learning Sites for Agriculture in Malaybalay City.
The training aimed to strengthen the capacity of AEWs in promoting sustainable food production systems in urban and peri-urban communities, contributing to improved food security and food safety.
Participants visited key learning sites, including the EMV Learning Hub, Greenhouse Café, Mushroom City, and Jaya’s Secret Garden, where they gained hands-on experience and practical knowledge on innovative and sustainable agricultural technologies.
The sessions covered essential topics such as the National Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture Program, basic urban and peri-urban agriculture technologies, rabbit production (kuniculture), soilless crop production through hydroponics, oyster mushroom culture, and edible landscaping and permaculture.
Resource persons, including Sanny Carpio, Numeriano Quesmado III, and Junah Bayag, guided AEWs through hands-on activities and demonstrations.
