EL SALVADOR CITY – In a move to strengthen the Halal industry in the region, the Agricultural Training Institute–Regional Training Center X (ATI-RTC X) conducted a Regional Halal Consultation with key stakeholders on May 14, 2026.
The activity brought together 20 participants from selected Local Government Units in Lanao del Norte, the Department of Agriculture–Regional Field Office X, the National Meat Inspection Service–Region X, Mindanao State University–Sultan Naga Dimaporo, Learning Site for Agriculture operators, and Halal advocates from Lanao del Norte.
The consultation aimed to identify and document existing programs and practices of Halal-implementing agencies in the region, discuss the procedures and requirements for applying as a Halal-compliant Learning Site for Agriculture, strengthen participants’ understanding of key Halal principles and requirements, and develop a draft training module for small-scale manual and mechanically assisted dhabihah (Halal slaughtering).
In her message, Center Director Maria Lydia A. Echavez emphasized the importance and growing potential of the Halal industry in the market.
She highlighted that Halal products are recognized for their safety and quality, which is why they continue to gain interest not only among Muslims but also among non-Muslims.
