LALA, LANAO DEL NORTE- The Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center X (ATI-RTC X), through its Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP), successfully conducted the Capacity Building on Technical Management of White Copra and Cooking Oil for CFIDP–Shared Processing Facility (SPF) Beneficiaries (Batch 2) on May 4–8, 2026, at Jika Farm and Fields.
The five-day training gathered 30 farmer-members of the Calube Farmers Multipurpose Cooperative, beneficiaries of the CFIDP Shared Processing Facility (SPF) from Sultan Naga Dimaporo, to strengthen their knowledge and skills in white copra and cooking oil production.
Ms. Wilivia G. Andoy of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines discussed Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), highlighting the importance of sanitation, food safety, and maintaining quality standards in processing operations.
Representatives from the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization, Engr. Junril Jay Tumampus Menque and Chasandra Mecca Mhore Camarillo Bastasa, also shared insights on financial analysis, technical management, and the efficient operation of processing facilities.
One of the participants, Joenepher C. Limbaga, expressed his appreciation to ATI for introducing modern technologies such as the copra dryer (Kokumdryer). He said the technology would help coconut farmers produce cleaner, evenly dried, and higher-quality copra that can command better market prices.
The activity forms part of ATI-RTC X’s continuing efforts to enhance the capabilities of coconut farmers and improve value-adding opportunities in the coconut industry under the CFIDP program.
