Magsaysay, Misamis Oriental — The Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center X (ATI-RTC X) strengthened the capabilities of local coconut farmers through a three-day Training on Good Copra Production and Processing held on April 6–8, 2026 at Kakilgan Beach Resort.
The training aimed to equip farmers with the knowledge and skills necessary to apply Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and food safety standards in copra production and processing. It also sought to enhance product quality, ensure safety and compliance with industry standards, and improve the marketability and value of copra products.
A total of 33 coconut farmers from Tulang Farmers Cooperative (TUFARCO), Cabantian Samahang Nayon Multipurpose Cooperative (Cabantian SNMPC), and Damayohan Agrarian Reform Beneficiary Farmers Credit Cooperative participated in the activity.
A key highlight of the activity was the benchmarking visit to Alayon Multipurpose Cooperative in Gingoog City, where participants observed the cooperative’s facilities, including the Kukum dryer. The visit provided practical insights into more efficient and improved copra processing technologies.
During the activity, General Manager Maricel Quinto shared the cooperative’s journey, highlighting its humble beginnings, challenges encountered, and the strategies that led to its growth and success.
She emphasized the importance of unity and adaptability, noting that organizational progress depends on members working together and embracing change.
Meanwhile, Rosas Pandan expressed her appreciation for the training, saying, “Daghan kaayo kog nakat-unan, salamat sa ATI sa paghatag sa amo ug bag-ong kaalam sa pagproseso sa copra.”
The activity not only reinforced the participants’ technical knowledge but also inspired them to pursue quality production, paving the way for improved productivity and increased income among coconut farmers in the area.###
