EL SALVADOR CITY – Reinforcing its commitment to empowering the youth, the Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center X (ATI-RTC X) conducted a pre-deployment orientation and Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing for Batch 2 of the Internship Program for the Children of Coconut Farmers (IPCCF).
Three young farmer-interns, Ms. Darline C. Ports and Mr. Jovie U. Balawaga from Gingoog City, and Mr. Jirel Jan B. Alegado from Kalilangan, Bukidnon—qualified for this year’s IPCCF cohort. The interns participated in the activity alongside their partner farm, the Alayon Multi-Purpose Cooperative, represented by Ms. Maricel D. Quinto.
The MOA signing was led by ATI-RTC X Center Director Maria Lydia A. Echavez and Officer-in-Charge Assistant Center Director Efren C. Macario.
The 21-month internship is a highly specialized initiative designed to cultivate a new generation of coconut farmers. The program aims to instill a deeper appreciation for coconut farming among the youth while equipping them with modern production technologies and entrepreneurial skills.
Through hands-on training and guided farm immersion, interns are expected to enhance their technical knowledge and develop the capacity to manage their own coconut-based agri-enterprises. Ultimately, the program seeks to ensure the long-term sustainability and growth of the coconut industry by empowering young farmers to become innovative agricultural leaders.
