Bahandi Nextgen Book Launch

Poblacion, El Salvador City---A success story book featuring selected next generation farmers in Region 10 was officially launched during the anniversary celebration of ATI.

A next generation farmer is someone who carries on the farming activity and legacy of one’s farmer parents, or at least from an immediate family member. Next generation farming is a farming approach which aims to attain sustainability, with the “farm-to-plate” end in mind.

As the sixth success story book produced by the center, Bahandi Next Generation (Nextgen) Edition carries 18 inspiring stories of next generation farmers and agripreneurs from the children of our Learning Site for Agriculture (LSA) partners.

The said success story book intends to inspire and prompt readers to engage in agriculture as well as agri-enthusiasts from all walks of life. With the declining interest to farm, aging population of today’s farmers, the book also aims to inspire other next generation of farmers who will take on the challenge and offer long term solutions to make the country food secure.

Among the featured next generation farmers include Julie Ann Alvarez of SIAKEAN’s Integrated Farm, Rollins Caballero of LRC Farm, Bhal Cabrera of Cush Prime Ventures, Nick Jay Arr Engallado of Engallado Nature Farm and Natural Food Products, Dorothy Macahilo of MR. Dega Farm, Nerea May Maghuyop of Alman Farm, Amor Mahistrado-Luceñara of Alomah’s Place and Nature Farm, April Malatamban of Anpas Farm, Windolyn Janice D. Navales of SN Farm, Queenie Notario of Queensland Herbs and Tourism Farm, April Ocampos-Awanan of Evexia Farm, Dannica Jane Ellen Partoza of DJE's Farm, Jan Pepito of J & C Rabbitry and Integrated Farm, Reuel and Izzy Roque-Fabros of Atugan Nature Farm, Glenn O. The book launching was held during the 36th ATI Anniversary Celebration on January 30-31, 2023 with the theme "Embracing Extension Modernization for a Progressive and Sustainable Agriculture and Fisheries".
