Malaybalay City, BUKIDNON---A micro-teaching session for the Season-long Training of Trainers on Vegetable Production participants transpired recently at the DA-10 Northern Mindanao Agricultural Crops & Livestock Research Complex (NMACLRC). Participants who are mostly Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) and farmer leaders showcased their teaching, extension work, and educational support to target audiences such as farmers or their co-extension workers.

Microteaching is an effective tool in doing extension work since it evaluates participants' mastery of the subject matter and their capacity to effectively share knowledge and farming technologies with the farmers, while also providing them with an opportunity to practice and refine their presentation and facilitation skills in preparation for implementing extension activities to their respective clientele and enhancing their ability to cascade the learning and technologies to their target audience.

Each participant presented their topic of choice at a given time before their co-participants and panelists for critiquing, feedback, as well as coaching.

As a direct source of farming technologies and innovations, the participants honed their skills in micro-teaching with teaching and presentation tips from Training Specialist III Teodosia D. Jaraba, section chief of the Career Development and Management Section (CDMS) of the center. Agriculturist II and NUPAP Alternate Focal Person Ronald Allan Camaddo of the Department of Agriculture-Regional Filed Office 10 (DA-RFO 10), Jessica A. Vicente of MAO-Balingasag, Arnold P. Loquias of PAgro-Bukidnon, Agriculturist II Joan Marie Diola of CAO- Malaybalay City and Agriculturist II Bernido P. Miasco of MAO- Lantapan, who are the training facilitators, also gave pointers to the participants on how to be an effective extensionist.

Organized by Training Specialist II Moisa Niña C. Paglinawan, who also serves as the project officer, the Season-long Training of Trainers on Vegetable Production runs from June to September 2024.
