Series of farm site validation conducted

Clarin, Misamis Occidental ---More farm sites are being partnered and helped by the center through its Partnership and Accreditation Services (PAS) to further establish and become Learning Site for Agriculture (LSA) in the region.

PAS Chief Javier P. Andalan visited 11 promising farm sites with farm owners who have showed interest to become ATI farm site partners on Tuesday, September 13 to 16 in Misamis Occidental and Lanao del Norte area.

Among the farms visited and validated include Suarez Farm (Sapang Dalaga, Misamis Occidental), Ginsalugan Integrated Farm (Calamba, Misamis Occidental), DM Mejos Farm (Calamba, Misamis Occidental), 1stTrixie Integrated Farm (Plaridel, Misamis Occidental), Nenen’s Integrated Farm (Plaridel, Misamis Occidental), Chona Encina’s Farm (Tudela, Misamis Occidental), Kahayahay Diversified and Integrated Farm (Clarin, Misamis Occidental), Paredes Green Eco-Farm (Bacolod, Ozamiz City, Misamis Occidental), Cellona Diversified Rice Farm (Lala, Lanao del Norte), West Bay Integrated Farm (Baroy, Lanao del Norte), Amanah Institute Multi-Skills Training and Assessment Inc. (Tangcal, Lanao del Norte).

The applicants' focus commodities include rice, coconut, and livestock such as pig, goat, quail, and chicken.

A set of basic requirements are needed to become a learning site of ATI such as the establishment of a holding area, comfort room, wash area, maintenance of farm records, implementation of landscaping and signages, as well as maintain field/farm sanitation.

The learning sites, as farm partners of the Institute, are essential in spreading commendable farming technologies and good agricultural practices worthy of replication by other farmers or individuals who wants to venture in farming and agribusiness.
