Building Safer Communities: ATI Davao Region Leads Training on Disaster Preparedness and Climate Change Adaptation

PANABO CITY, DAVAO DEL NORTE – To equip individuals with essential knowledge and skills to understand disasters and actively contribute to risk reduction, ATI Davao Region conducted a Training on Disaster Preparedness, Mitigation, and Adaptation on September 23-25, 2025.

This training focused on raising awareness, enhancing response capabilities, and fostering a proactive mindset among the participants, empowering them to take meaningful action in mitigating disaster risks within their communities.  

Student interns from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Regional Training Center – Korea Philippines (KorPhil), along with staff from the City Agriculture Office (CAGRO), participated in the training.

Participants took part in interactive lecture-discussions covering various topics, including:

- Understanding Disaster Risk and Climate Change
- Risk Identification and Assessment
- Disaster Preparedness and Climate Change Adaptation Strategies in Agricultural Production
- Risk Reduction and Mitigation Strategies
- Building Resilience and Effective Crisis Response
- Community Advocacy and Promotion of Disaster Preparedness

These discussions aimed to enhance knowledge and strategies related to disaster management and climate change adaptation.

In addition, participants experienced actual demonstrations for Disaster Preparedness and Adaptation Drills. Drills on earthquake, fire safety, and flood.

Resource persons for the three-day training were from the Bureau of Fire Protection, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, and CAGRO in Panabo City.

Through this initiative, ATI Davao Region aims to ensure that participants gain a thorough understanding of disaster risk and climate change. The program will focus on assessing local hazards, developing preparedness plans, implementing risk reduction strategies, demonstrating resilience during crises, and actively promoting disaster preparedness within their communities. This collective effort will help mitigate the impacts of climate-related disasters.
