
MARAGUSAN, Davao de Oro— As one of the beneficiaries of the Swine Industry Recovery Project (SIRP) under the Department of Agriculture-National Livestock Program, the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center XI, in partnership with the Local Government of Maragusan, successfully held the Groundbreaking Ceremony and Memorandum of Agreement Signing for the establishment of an Innovative Pig Pen Design on March 26, 2025 at Maragusan Integrated Agricultural Development Livelihood Resource Center, Brgy. Mapawa.
This initiative strengthens the INSPIRE Program by accelerating the recovery of the swine industry through normalizing hog production, restoring livelihoods, and and ensuring a sustainable pork supply.
The ceremony was marked by the official turnover of a Php 1.5 million check and the MOA signing between ATI-RTC XI and LGU-Maragusan. It was graced by Municipal Mayor Angelito J. Cabalquinto, Municipal Agriculturist Aurelio M. Lopez III, and key ATI-RTC XI officials including Center Director Alicia Rose D. Nebreja, Senior Agriculturist Dr. Omarbliss B. Dalam, Accountant I James Philip Saludares, Budget Officer Marjorie M. Nomus, and Project Engineer Ken Lloyd F. Pabilan.
Local farmers and representatives from the Municipal Agriculture Office and Barangay LGU also participated, demonstrating strong community support for revitalizing the swine sector.
This collaboration marks a significant step toward strengthening the region’s swine industry, ensuring that smallholder farmers benefit from sustainable and innovative livestock farming solutions.
