Participants of the Province-led Agriculture and Fisheries Extension Systems (PAFES) Midyear Physical and Financial Assessment gathered in Davao City from July 29 to August 2, 2024, at the World Palace Davao.
As part of the assessment, they undertook a field tour to two significant Certified Learning Sites for Agriculture (LSA) managed by the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI): Hacienda Torrentira Agri-Tourism Park and Macatabo Farm.
Hacienda Torrentira, located in the Tugbok District of Davao City, is celebrated for its integrated farming approach. The farm highlights the cultivation of emerging and high-value crops through both conventional and organic farming techniques. It serves as a model for innovative agricultural practices and showcases the potential of combining traditional and modern methods.
In contrast, Macatabo Farm, situated in the Baguio District of Davao City, stands out for its commitment to Good Agricultural Practices (GAP). The farm is known for producing high-quality crops that meet stringent agricultural standards, demonstrating its dedication to excellence in farming.
The field tour was attended by PAFES focal persons from the Department of Agriculture and ATI across various regions. This initiative is a vital part of the OneDA Reform Agenda, which aims to create a cohesive institutional framework to strengthen and integrate extension services at the provincial level.
