Kabacan, Cotabato Province—The Training of Trainers on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) for Coconut Production for Agricultural Extension Workers and Farmer-Leaders from the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) concluded on April 24, 2026. Held at the USM Compound, the five-day activity focused on enhancing the technical capacity of participants to promote sustainable, safe, and efficient coconut farming practices.

Throughout the sessions, attendees acquired knowledge regarding environmental management, plantation practices, pest control, and the standards required for Philippine Good Agricultural Practices (PhilGAP). The program aimed to standardize farming methodologies to ensure adherence to quality and safety benchmarks necessary for the competitive production of coconut products within the region.

Engr. Mokles P. Buisan, Overall Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP) Focal Person, addressed the participants during the closing program. He encouraged the attendees to apply the technical competencies acquired during the training and to facilitate the transfer of these practices to local farmers in their respective jurisdictions.

By training these extension workers and local leaders, the program establishes a localized support network for the coconut industry. This initiative serves as a development mechanism, enabling participants to improve farm-level productivity and ensure the long-term resilience of the coconut sector in their communities.
