Thirty coconut farmers under the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Program (CFIDP) successfully completed the three-day Farmer-Level Training on Native Cattle Production and Management (Batch 2) held on April 8–10, 2026 at Park Lay Suites, City of Kidapawan.

The training equipped participants with practical knowledge and skills in proper cattle production, feeding, and herd management to prepare them for the upcoming cattle dispersal under the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI). A key highlight of the activity was the hands-on demonstration on Urea Molasses Mineral Block (UMMB) formulation and probiotic application to improve animal nutrition and productivity.

Ms. Rosalie S. Cagatin, Project Assistant III of BAI-CFIDP, served as the resource person and led the technical sessions throughout the training.

To complement the lectures, participants joined a field tour at the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) in Kabacan on the final day, where they observed actual cattle farm operations and pasture management practices. The tour was facilitated by Prof. Roy C. Ricabar of the Animal Science Department and Arnabie M. Murray of Extension Services.

Following the training, participants are expected to establish pasture and forage areas as part of their preparation for cattle dispersal, supporting improved livestock productivity and sustainable livelihood opportunities for coconut farming communities.
