Kabacan, Cotabato—Farmers from various cooperatives and associations across the Special Geographic Area of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao completed the Farmer-Level Training on Native Chicken Production and Management from May 6 to 8, 2026. Held at the Agricultural Training Institute–Satellite Training Center XII, the three-day activity provided coconut farmers and leaders with technical knowledge on sustainable poultry practices designed to enhance existing farming systems and generate additional income.

The curriculum focused on the integration of native chicken production into coconut farms, emphasizing efficient breed selection, housing, health management, and feeding techniques utilizing locally available resources. Facilitated by technical experts Abdulislam S. Belongan, Saban B. Belongan, and Solaiman B. Kabasalan from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform, the sessions highlighted strategies for improving household food security and agricultural resilience.

To complement classroom lectures, participants visited 3P Farm in Kidapawan City for a field exposure activity. This immersive experience allowed attendees to observe actual farm operations and the application of production technologies in a commercial setting. The training concluded with a graduation ceremony led by OIC-Assistant Center Director Hannadi Guiamad-Pompong, who encouraged the graduates to implement these practices within their respective localities.

By equipping farmers with practical, low-cost production strategies, this initiative fosters the development of diversified farming enterprises. The application of these technical skills is expected to contribute to the economic stability of the participants' local communities by creating sustainable food sources and expanding market-ready agricultural products.
