The Training of Trainers on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in Coconut Production for Agricultural Extension Workers and Farmer-Leaders from the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) continued on April 15, 2026. The training activity takes place at the ATI-STC XII facility within the USM Compound in Kabacan, Cotabato Province, and is scheduled to run until April 17, 2026. This activity addresses crop protection challenges within the regional coconut sector.

Mr. Rasul A. Piang facilitated discussions on the principles of Integrated Pest Management, focusing on pest management strategies for coconut cultivation. The session allowed participants to analyze pest control methodologies, field monitoring protocols, and the integration of biological and cultural practices to mitigate infestations. These technical discussions provided the foundation for managing pest populations while maintaining environmental balance in farming systems.

By equipping agricultural extension officers and local leaders with these technical skills, the training establishes a resource base for pest management within BARMM agricultural zones. The application of these protocols in home communities is intended to reduce crop damage and stabilize farm outputs. Consequently, the adoption of these standardized practices supports the long-term productivity of coconut farms, contributing to the economic stability and food security of the participants' respective local communities.
