Agricultural Training Institute 12 under its Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFDP) Program conducts it 9th batch for Good Agricultural Practices on Coconut Production at Habi Hotel, Koronadal City this May 5-7, 2026
The activity aims to capacitate the thirty (30) coconut farmers from Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat about the various good agricultural practices on coconut production that will help them to increase their production. It also serves as an avenue for the farmers to have a better understanding about the importance of GAP in coconut farming, particularly in ensuring food safety, producing quality agricultural products, promoting environmental sustainability, and protecting workers’ health and safety.
“Mahalaga na tuloy-tuloy yung mga natutunan ng ating mga farmers, simula sa proper agricultural practices hanggang sa mahalagang role na ginagampanan ng ating mga coconut farms sa pagpapalakas ng sector ng agrikultura dito sa region 12,’ Jessie V. Beldia, Ph.D. the OIC-Center Director of ATI-RTC 12 said during his opening message.
Participants also conducts a field exposure and hands-on activity at Gernils Farm owned by Marnelli Cordero, an accredited Learning Site for Agriculture of ATI-12. The field exposures serve as an opportunity for the coconut farmers to have a first-hand experience in sustainable farming practices and coconut-based farm management. It also gave the participants the practical insights on how they can improve productivity, product quality, and environmental sustainability that they can apply to their farms.
Topics related to GAP and PhilGAP was also presented by Normuhaymin B. Arsad, Technical Staff of ATI-RTX 12.
