The 3-day training on the Coconut-Cacao Farming System was conducted last February 24-26, 2025 at ATI-RTC XII, Brgy. San Felipe, Tantangan South Cotabato.
ATI-RTC XII OIC - Center Director Jessie V. Beldia, Ph.D. opened the training by welcoming the participants from different municipalities of Sarangani Province. This was followed by an acknowledgment of participants by Ms. Alyssa Marie G. Ilustrisimo, CFIDP XII Technical Staff. The program continued with an Overview of the CFIDP by Engr. Teofilo T. Jumawan, Jr., Planning Officer II and Alternate Focal Person of CFIDP XII.
The training covered key topics by Mr. Bonifacio Pales, owner of the Learning Site for Agriculture, Pales Farm. He discussed topics such as Crop Establishment and Farm Maintenance, as well as, the Harvesting and Post-Harvest Process. Moreover, Mr. Arnaldo G. Pacio, Science Research Specialist II of DA-AMRES discussed the Insect Pests and Diseases of Cacao.
The training is a stepping stone toward enhancing the coconut-cacao farming industry, supporting both the local community and the global agricultural landscape. Bu learning how to effectively manage these two crops in tandem, farmers can contribute to the growth of a more sustainable, eco-friendly, and profitable agricultural sector.
