PATIN-AY, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur – The province of Agusan del Sur is now on its way in crafting its Collaborative Provincial Agriculture and Fisheries Extension Program (CPAFEP). This was because during the planning-workshop for the Province-led Agriculture and Fisheries Extension System (PAFES) held last May 20, 2022 at the Hygeia Intrameds/Foundation for the Development of Agusanons Incorporated (FDAI), plans and interventions for the next three years were presented for critiquing by the provincial/city/municipality officers and representatives.

The Planning-Workshop for the Province-led Agriculture and Fisheries Extension System (PAFES) was held last May 20, 2022 at the Hygeia Intrameds/Foundation for the Development of Agusanons Incorporated (FDAI).

However, since majority of the Local Government Units (LGUs) have not yet submitted their plans, consolidation was not yet possible. It will take few more engagements before their CPAFEP will be finalized and approved.

The CPAFEP is an integrated set of projects and activities in sharing technical, market, policy, and related advisory to support agriculture and fisheries in the province. During his opening remarks, Provincial Agriculturist Armando Valiente explained to the group the expected output of the workshop. He also said that presentation will be done by selected municipality and critiquing will follow thereafter.

In the political arena, not much has changed among the Local Chief Executives (LCEs) in Agusan del Sur. Incumbent governor Santiago Cane Jr. retains his position while there are only two newly-elected mayors at the municipal level. This situation may smoothen the implementation of PAFES in the province considering re-orientation will no longer be necessary.
