TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur – The central cluster of Surigao del Sur met on May 24, 2022, at the training hall of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAG) for the planning workshop of the Province-led Agriculture and Fisheries and Extension System (PAFES).

The central cluster is composed of Local Government Units (LGUs) from Tandag City, Lianga, San Agustin, Marihatag, Cagwait, Bayabas, Tago, and San Miguel. Representatives from these LGUs composed of Municipal/City Agriculturist and their Planning Officer-designate Agricultural Extension Worker (AEW).

Edelmira Luminarias, PAFES Focal Person of DA-RFO 13, presented the overview of PAFES and the mapping-out of the Collaborative Provincial Agriculture and Fisheries Extension Program (CPAFEP). The CPAFEP is an integrated set of projects and activities in sharing technical, market, policy, and related advisory to support agriculture and fisheries in the province. Luminarias noted during her discussion the importance of the Provincial Commodity Investment Plan (PCIP) as this is the precursor and basis of CPAFEP.

All LGUs in the central cluster were able to present their local plans and interventions. Aside from Provincial Agriculturist Marcos Quico, representatives from DA-RFO 13, ATI, and PhilFIDA were also present to critique the presentation. The outputs will be consolidated and finalized by OPAG and will form part of the CPAFEP document.
