ESPERANZA, Agusan del Sur - To empower farmers and encourage them to embrace the role of information and communication technology in maximizing the digital tools available nowadays, the Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) XIII successfully conducted the Digital Farmers Program (DFP) 101 and 102 Training of Trainers with Package of Technology (PoT) Batch 3, held from February 6-8, 2024, in this town.

Thirty (30) members of the Lumbia Farmers Association from Barangay Dakutan attended the three-day training.

The training module covered essential topics designed to enhance the digital literacy of farmers, including Digital Farmers 101 and DFP 102. It provided a comprehensive understanding of utilizing smartphones, accessing the internet securely, basic agricultural apps, and social media for marketing purposes. Additionally, participants learned advanced topics such as agricultural apps, e-commerce strategies, and online payments.

Through the DFP, participants equipped with knowledge gained valuable insights and practical skills that will enable them to make informed farming decisions, access market opportunities, and enhance their livelihoods.

During the closing program, Esperanza Mayor Deo Manpatilan said in a message, “First and foremost, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the ATI for spearheading this invaluable initiative. Through your unwavering commitment to agricultural development and innovation, you have equipped our farmers with the knowledge and skills your efforts reflect a shared vision of empowering our agricultural sector and driving sustainable rural development. To the participants of this training, I commend you for your dedication and enthusiasm throughout these past three days by actively engaging and embracing new technologies, you have demonstrated your commitment to embrace change and seeking growth opportunities. I urge you to continue this journey with determination and resilience, knowing that you hold the power to transform not only your livelihoods but also the entire Esperanza and beyond. Let us continue to work hand in hand, united in our commitment to building a brighter future for our agricultural communities.”

The Information Services Section (ISS) spearheaded the training, with Fil Victor A Babanto, Information Officer III/ ISS, Chief, as Project Officer in coordination with the Municipal Agriculture Office of Esperanza, Agusan del Sur.
