This is to evaluate the progress of the SOA activities and determine the issues and concerns relative to the implementation of the program in their respective areas.

SOA on Organic
Maria Den B. Parro, Agriculturist I and SOA on OA In-Charge, presented the agenda of the SOA on Organic Agriculture held at Provincial Conference Room, Surigao City on August 19, 2022.

Zenaida Piramide, Center Chief of Operations Division from the Provincial Agriculture Office of Surigao del Norte, welcomed the attendees. She acknowledged the cooperation of the Local Government Units (LGUs) in the implementation of the program.

Maria Den B. Parro, Agriculturist I and SOA In-Charge, presented the agenda of the meeting. She reminded them of the submission of lacking documents such as special orders, resource person information sheets, enrollment forms, pre-test and quiz answer sheets, and other related documents needed in the program. Furthermore, she also took note of the issues and concerns raised by the coordinators to further improve the implementation of the program.

Common concerns raised during the assessment in some municipalities started late because of the limitation in the radio station coverage, especially in remote barangays. Also, there were LGUs who have initiated strategies to cope with such limitations. Some of them gathered the enrollees in one area to collectively listen to a recorded/canned broadcast especially those who are in far-flung barangays.

Present during the activity were coordinators from the 10 participating LGUs namely: Bacuag, Claver, Gigaquit, Mainit, San Francisco, Malimono, Taganaan, Tubod, Sison and Surigao City.

With the active participation and cooperation of the Provincial Agriculture Office through the program anchor Angel R. Fazon Jr. and the LGUs, the SOA program continues to deliver information and technology in organic agriculture to various stakeholders throughout the province.

The SOA on Organic Agriculture will be aired for 16 sessions, one hour per week over RMN-DXRS-Surigao every Friday at 5:00am – 6:00am.
