BUTUAN CITY - ATI-RTC XIII, in partnership with the Butuan City Agriculture and Veterinary Office and the Office of the City Agriculturist of Cabadbaran City, conducted the one-day Knowledge Sharing and Learning (KSL) session titled “From Bean to Market: Coffee and Cacao Farmers KSL” on May 26, 2026, at the Balangay Hall, ATI-RTC XIII, Los Angeles, Butuan City.

The activity aimed to enhance farmers’ understanding of the coffee and cacao industry roadmap, improve production and postharvest handling practices, and identify potential market opportunities within and outside the Caraga Region.

In his welcome message, OIC-Assistant Center Director Engr. Matt Andrew G. Baquiano emphasized the importance of mindset, innovation, value-adding, and partnerships in achieving success in agriculture.

Ms. Dailinda M. Mamalis, Senior Agriculturist from DA-Caraga, discussed the overview of the coffee and cacao industry roadmap, including available market opportunities and government interventions for farmers.

Meanwhile, Ms. Maribeth A. Rañoa of Deseo Food Products shared proper cacao postharvest handling practices, highlighting the importance of fermentation and bean grading, while Mr. Anthony M. Buntag of Casiklan Wheels Farmers Association Inc. discussed coffee postharvest handling and led a coffee sensory activity focusing on fragrance, aroma, flavor, and aftertaste.

A total of 32 participants composed of Agricultural Extension Workers, cacao farmers, and coffee farmers attended the activity.
