LOS ANGELES, Butuan City - A total of 21 Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) and 4 agri-enthusiasts completed the Training of Trainers on Integrated Nutrient Management (INM) for rice production held from April 20–24, 2026, at ATI-RTC XIII, Butuan City.

The training aimed to equip participants with knowledge and skills on INM to strengthen their role as frontliners in promoting improved and sustainable rice production technologies.

Key topics included leadership and mindset transformation in extension work, the rice industry situation, soil fertility, and integrated nutrient management principles. Participants also learned about fertilizer computation and the Balanced Fertilization Strategy (BFS).

Practical sessions introduced tools such as MOET, RCM, and LCC, with demonstrations on their use for proper nutrient management in rice fields.

The pool of resource persons included Ernie L. Malazarte, Agriculturist II of ATI0RTC XIII; Jovino L. De Dios, Supervising Science Research Specialist, Caryl S. Agting, Science Research Specialist II, Alona P. Tape, Science Research Specialist I, Jehru Calantes Magahud, Senior Science Reseach Specialist, all of Philippine Rice Research Institute; Diana G Pacaldo, Agricluturist II, and Regie A. Bicamon, from DA-Caraga region;  John Carlo Asilum Rasonabe, Science Research Analyst from DA-Bureau Of Soils And Water Management; and Pastor Ricardo V. Casimiro of United Pentecostal Church Phils.Inc. (UPCPI), Ampayon.

Participants were also tasked to prepare re-entry action plans, which will be monitored six months after implementation.
