Farmers from Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur, are returning to their communities with new skills and a renewed sense of purpose after attending a Technical Briefing on Urban Agriculture Production Technologies on August 15, 2025. Participants praised the one-day event, conducted by the Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) 13, for its practical approach and empowering content.

Evelyn C. Salas, a farmer-leader from Saguma, emphasized the value of the training, particularly the hands-on demonstrations. "This training gave us more ideas, especially regarding planting and the use of herbs," Salas said. "The speaker was very good at explaining the process for both the herbs and the feeds."

Jordan A. Tanjay of Maygatasan expressed the same sentiment. "I am very thankful that I was able to join this activity. We learned so much, not just about propagating herbs, but also how to manage them," Tanjay stated. "We are happy to have received so many ideas from this event. Hopefully, we can apply what we learned to help our barangay grow, and all of this knowledge was free."

Held at the Olivier Ecovillage in Ampayon, Butuan City, the briefing was attended by 28 farmers and farmer-leaders. The resource person, Mr. Oliver Q. Terante, a Learning Site cooperator, discussed topics such as feed formulation, herb production management, and urban agriculture best practices. It aimed at equipping participants with the skills needed to implement sustainable farming practices in their own communities.

The participants engaged in a practical demonstration on feed formulation and the production of herbs. This hands-on approach allowed participants to actively engage in the process, gaining firsthand experience in preparing cost-effective, nutritious livestock feed using locally available materials.
