Tandag City, Surigao del Sur – Agricultural extension stakeholders from across Surigao del Sur
convened at the Shacene Pension House in Tandag City on January 11, 2025, for a crucial
consultation workshop. Conducted by the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center
13 (ATI-RTC 13), the workshop aimed to identify key training and extension needs for the fiscal
year 2027 and beyond.
The workshop emphasized the importance of data-driven planning. Mr. Carrell Linugao, ATI
Technical Staff, presented the workshop's overview and mechanics, highlighting the critical role of
the Local Government Unit (LGU) validation of existing ATI data. Engr. Matt Andrew G. Baquiano,
OIC Chief of the Partnership and Accreditation Section, outlined the ATI's overarching goals and
guiding principles for extension program implementation, acknowledging the valuable
contributions of LGUs in past achievements.
Mr. Von C. Falcon, Tandag City Agriculturist, urged LGU representatives to prioritize their needs and
provide essential data and insights. He stressed the importance of developing a responsive and
effective extension program that directly addresses the specific needs of the province's agriculture
and fisheries sector.
Participants included representatives from various stakeholders: the Office of the Provincial
Agriculturist, Provincial Veterinary Office, City/Municipal Agriculture Offices, City Veterinary
Offices, Provincial Agriculture and Fisheries Council, and Learning Site for Agriculture cooperators.
Their collective input will be instrumental in shaping the future of agricultural extension services in
Surigao del Sur.
