AEWs train on drying and milling plant servicing
Participants conducted their actual inspection of flatbed drying on Oct. 27, 2022 at Santo Niño Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Santo Niño, Butuan City.

BUTUAN CITY – A total of 22 Agricultural Extension Workers participated the Training of Trainers (TOT) on Drying and Milling Plant Servicing conducted by the Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) XIII on October 24-28, 2022 at MSC Center for the Poor.

This training aims to capacitate the Agriculture Extension Workers (AEWs) and operators/technicians with the skills and knowledge in the operation, maintenance, and management of drying and milling facilities.

Participants learned the basic safety protocol and procedures in operating the drying and milling facilities, their concept and importance, and the advantages and disadvantages of different drying and milling methods and its system.

Their hands-on activities include the identification of grain drying and milling plant facilities, actual demonstration on repair and maintenance, and post-servicing activities.

Matt Andrew Baquiano, Agriculturist II of ATI-RTC XIII, discussed the drying process and gain drying requirements. Jingle T. Paloma from the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech) presented the operationalization and institutionalization of the Agricultural and Fisheries Mechanization (AFMech) Center and Regional Plans and Programs on Agricultural Mechanization.

Moreover, Renante R. Abado of the Department of Agriculture – Caraga Region, explained the topic about rice transplanter basic troubleshooting and its maintenance. Neil Caesar M. Tado of Caraga State University, gave information on the improvement of grain drying efficiency and the milling process.
