BBOs
Stakeholders attended the Agusan del Norte SP Committee on Agriculture and Agrarian Reform consultation on the institutionalization of BAHWs/ BBOs on March 30, 2022.

BUTUAN CITY – In reference to House Bill No. 5893 introduced by Agusan del Norte Governor Ma. Angelica M. Amante-Matba, the province conducted a committee consultation through its Sangguniang Panlalawigan Committee on Agriculture and Agrarian Reform with its stakeholders on March 30, 2022 held at SP Session Hall, Capitol Compound.

The discussion aims to review and finalize the crafting of the proposed provincial ordinance for the institutionalization of the Barangay Animal Health Workers (BAHWs)/ Barangay Biosecurity Officers (BBOs) in Agusan del Norte.

Through this, BAHWs/ BBOs will be strengthened in terms of access to training, continuing education, and career enrichment programs to address community animal health care services, problems, and issues. This was highlighted with the outbreaks of epidemics such as African Swine Fever (ASF) cases and foot-and-mouth disease.

The Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) XIII, as one of the Province’s partners in this endeavor, supported the PLGU’s initiative and participated in the consultation through its Livestock Program Point Person, Florita Lozada.
