PATIN-AY, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur – Dubbed as “Wais sa Mais”, the School-on-the-Air (SOA) on Corn Production is set to start its implementation in Agusan del Sur this June as municipal and provincial coordinators participated in the program’s briefing on April 18, 2022 at Hygeia IntegraMeds Center.

Implementing agencies of the SOA on Corn Production from the provincial and municipal level in Agusan del Sur convened with ATI-RTC XIII for its briefing last April 18, 2022 at Hygeia IntegraMeds Center, Patin-ay, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.

It was attended by Jessamine Vea, provincial corn focal person and Joel Corvera from the Provincial Agriculture and Veterinary Office (PAVO), and representatives from the 13 municipalities and one city.

Finalization of the module, identification of resource persons, preferred partner radio station considering the audience reach, timeslot, and day, and the roles and responsibilities of the municipal and provincial coordinators, as well as of the PAVO and ATI-RTC XIII.

The 16 episodes of the SOA will cover and discuss the topics on OneDA Approach, the Department of Agriculture’s National Corn Program, its origin and cultivation, cultural and biological management of the crop diseases and pests, marketing, and processing.

Attendees gave their support and commitment to the enrollment of SOA students, to wit: Sibagat – 40, Bayugan City – 40, Esperanza – 40, Prosperidad – 40, Rosario – 40, Talacogon – 40, San Luis – 40, La Paz – 40, Loreto – 40, Veruela – 30, Sta. Josefa – 40, Bunawan – 40, Trento – 40, and San Francisco – 40.

It is set to start in the first week of June. It will be anchored by Joel Corvera, the provincial farmcaster and SOA coordinator.

The said SOA is implemented by the Information Services Section of the Agricultural Training Institute- Regional Training Center XIII with Ressell Angelie Fetalsana, Information Officer II, as the project officer.
