ATI 13 supports BBOs training in Surigao City

SURIGAO CITY – In its continuous fight against livestock diseases particularly the African Swine Fever (ASF), the City Veterinary Office of Surigao City in partnership with the Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) XIII conducted the Bantay ASF sa Barangay: Training on Biosecurity, Surveillance and Sample Collection for ASF Control on October 24-25, 2022.

This two-day training was participated by 15 Barangay Biosecurity Officers and was funded by the City Veterinary Office of Surigao City headed by Dr. Alan F. Quines.

It aims to capacitate the BBOs to gain additional knowledge and skills on collecting specimens for laboratory testing, appropriate handling of specimens and restraining techniques, and preparation of animals for collection.

Participants were able to gain additional knowledge on the Bantay sa ASF Barangay Program, biosecurity, guidelines on swine movement, animal straining, and sample collection through lectures and hands-on activities.

The ATI-RTC XIII provided technical inputs, training materials, and PPEs through its livestock program.
