
Trento, Agusan del Sur - Emphasizing the significance of Smart Agriculture Technologies (SATs) in modern farming, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) Caraga, through its Information Services Section, successfully conducted the second phase of Farm Learn: Digital Farmers Program (DFP 103) on April 23–25, 2024, at SEGLO Integrated Farm in Kapatungan.
This training follows the successful completion of Phase 1, which was also conducted at the same venue on April 9–11, 2025.
The participants were engaged in both lectures and hands-on activities, exploring agri-digital tools such as Binhing Palay, Payong PAGASA, Rice Crop Manager Advisory Service (RCMAS), and e-Damuhan. These sessions were facilitated by Sharon Honor, Meljay Gemao, and Julius Baybay from SEGLO Integrated Farm and the Municipal Agriculture Office of Trento.
Elena Bausing, Senior Agriculturist from the Provincial Agriculture and Veterinary Office (PAVO), shared insights on the Masagana Rice Industry Development Program and provided updates on the rice industry in the Caraga region. Moreover, Connie Monta, Account Officer from LandBank of the Philippines - Agusan del Sur Lending Center, discussed the Agricultural Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (ACEF) Lending Program.
During the third day of training, participants were introduced to agricultural drones and witnessed a live demonstration led by Mr. Jose Alexander Purino, owner of Purino Integrated Farm—an ATI Caraga-certified Learning Site for Agriculture. A total of 31 members from the Tibarao Irrigators Association, Inc. completed the training and were awarded certificates of completion.
The two-phase activity was made possible through the collaboration of Smart Communications, the Agusan del Sur Provincial Agriculture and Veterinary Office (PAVO), the Municipal Agriculture Office of Trento, and SEGLO Integrated Farm.
