SAN JOSE, Province of Dinagat Islands – Together with their parents, children aged two to 13 years old participated in the Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) XIII Outreach Program dubbed as "Himsog nga Kabataan, Malipayong Katilingban" held at Brgy. Sta. Cruz, San Jose, PDI on July 15, 2024.
The 100 partakers were oriented on the importance of health and nutrition in the full development of children from the first 1000 days during pregnancy by Ms. Gem Lou O. Geraldino, Provincial Nutrition Action Officer (PNAO) from the PDI Provincial Health Office.
The program aims to promote and raise awareness of healthy nutrition and food security practices in every Filipino household. It was participated by 100 children in the said barangay. It was implemented in partnership with the Provincial Agriculture Office of PDI.
Gilbert Anguay, Office of the Provincial Agriculturist Senior Aquaculturist and Gender and Development focal person, Hon. Brgy. Captain Aida Antipolo together with Brgy. Councilors Wilfredo Batchancila, Jonieto Corminal, and Riezel Ecle, attended the one-day activity spearheaded by ATI Caraga’s Gender and Development Program team.
Moreover, the said program was in support of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) 2023-2028 calling for collective action among stakeholders in the government to end malnutrition and ensure nutrition security for all Filipinos and through the National Nutrition Council (NNC) 2024 theme, "Sa PPAN: Sama-sama sa Nutrisyong Sapat para sa Lahat!"
