The seven Barangay Biosecurity Officers (BBOs) were deputized and took their Pledge of Commitment during the Seminar on Biosecurity, Surveillance and Sample Collection last Dec. 2, 2021.

BAYABAS, Surigao del Sur – Through the Local Government Unit’s (LGUs) initiative in support to the Bantay African Swine Fever (ASF) program, the Seminar on Biosecurity, Surveillance and Sample Collection for Barangay Biosecurity Officers (BBOs) was conducted in Bayabas, Surigao del Sur on December 2, 2021.

Mayor Maria Clarita G. Limbaro graced the one-day event and encouraged the seven BBOs (one per barangay) who participated to apply the knowledge gained during the seminar.

This aims to provide awareness to newly deputized BBOs with regards to Bantay ASF sa Barangay Program, roles and responsibilities of BBOs, importance of biosecurity and guidelines in swine movement.

The said activity was requested and funded by the LGU of Bayabas in support to the National Livestock Program (NLP) by the Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) XIII in partnership with the Municipal Agriculture Office headed by Municipal Agriculturist Geralyn B. Guibao and Provincial Veterinary Office of Surigao del Sur led by Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Margarito G. La Torre Jr.

Further, it was highlighted by the deputization and Pledge of Commitment of the BBOs led by Florita Lozada, ATI-RTC XIII Livestock Point Person.
