BUTUAN CITY- Jessiel Faye Lee and Emalyn Aldover, the qualified interns of Caraga Region for the Young Filipino Farm Leaders Training Program in Japan (YFFLTPJ) Batch 2024, started their occupational internship on January 22, 2024 at Guias Integrated Farm, one of the accredited LSAs situated in Barangay NongNong.

They were accompanied by Engr. Matt Andrew Baquiano, Senior Agriculturist of Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) XIII.

He presented and gave a brief overview of the program to Shiela Maglines, farm owner, who received the interns and committed to teaching them the different agricultural strategies and techniques they have on their farm and exposing them to other farms as well.

Moreover, the interns were able to visit Butuan City Integrated Diversified Organic Farm which enabled them to gain insights and knowledge on greenhouse management and high-value crops production on January 24, 2024.

YFFLTPJ is a partnership between the Department of Agriculture, and Japan Agricultural Exchange Council (JAEC) which aims to develop young Filipino farmers to become farmer leaders and empowered agricultural entrepreneurs.

The said internship is part of its pre-departure preparations.
