PROSPERIDAD, Agusan del Sur –Twenty-eight farmer leaders in Agusan del Sur completed the Training on Dynamic Rice Crop Management on April 2-4, 2024 at Hygeia IntegraMeds Center, Barangay Patin-ay spearheaded by the Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) XIII.

Participants learned and understood the Masagana Rice Industry Development Program, the concepts and principles of the PalayCheck System including the nine KeyChecks, and the Palayamanan Plus. Further, they were also informed on the Regional Rice Program interventions for CY 2024.

As for the Palayamanan farming system, it highlighted three main strategies, which are diversification, intensification, and integration. Onion production and egg layer production were also discussed.

The partakers were able to visit an integrated farm in Karaos, San Francisco, Agusan del Sur.

Resource persons during the training were Dianne G. Pacaldo and Romer S. Amante from the Department of Agriculture – Caraga Region; Elena S. Bausing and Edmund S. Tayapad of the Provincial Agriculture and Veterinary Office of Agusan del Sur; Basiljohn B. Sebial of Butuan City Agriculture and Veterinary Department; and Cristal L. Penero from ATI-RTC XIII.

“Dako kaayo ko ug pagpasalamat labi na gyod sa Agricultural Training Institute tungod kay nadugangan napud ang akong kahibalo kabahin sa pagdumala sa basakan ug sa dugang panginabuhian isip mag-uuma (I am very thankful to Agricultural Training Institute because I have gained new knowledge on rice production and its management and also for other commodities as additional source of income),” said Demit A. Rosalina, one of the participants from Barangay Oro, Esperanza, Agusan del Sur.

Further, participants were from the municipalities of La Paz, Sta. Josefa, Bunawan, Trento, San Luis, Loreto, Talacogon, Esperanza, Prosperidad, San Francisco, Veruela, Rosario, and Bayugan City.
