BUTUAN CITY — The Agricultural Training Institute–Regional Training Center XIII (ATI-RTC XIII) successfully conducted the two-day forum titled “Innovate and Cultivate: From Soil to Shelf – Advancing Innovations Across Agriculture, Foods, and Markets” at the VCDU Grand Convention Hall, Villa Kananga, Butuan City on September 29-30, 2025.
The event was held in two batches, each composed of 75 participants, for a total of 150 attendees representing Learning Site for Agriculture (LSA) cooperators, Magsasakang Siyentista (MS), and members of the Youth Internship Program on Organic Agriculture (YIPOA) and the International Internship Program (IIP).
The activity aimed to strengthen the agricultural value chain through innovation, sustainability, and agripreneurship. In her message, Director Noemi Beth G. Macario, CESE, emphasized the importance of collaboration among farmers, learning sites, and institutions in achieving inclusive agricultural growth. She encouraged participants to serve as catalysts of innovation in their respective communities. Engr. Woodrow C. Escobal Jr., Secretary of the Caraga LSA Federation, also urged cooperators to continue sharing best practices that inspire farmers toward enterprise development.
Participants gained essential knowledge and practical skills on regenerative agriculture, product development, and digital marketing. The sessions focused on improving soil health, developing marketable agricultural products, and leveraging technology to expand market reach. Resource speakers highlighted the importance of sustainable practices and business-oriented approaches to make farming more competitive and climate-resilient.
Engr. Burdas discussed regenerative agriculture, presenting techniques such as no-till farming, agroforestry, and integrated livestock management to promote soil health and biodiversity. Meanwhile, Mr. Jason C. Balacuit, proprietor of JCB Express Solutions and operator of OTOP PH Hub Caraga, shared valuable insights on product development and branding, emphasizing the role of innovation and market research in building strong agribusiness identities.
Highlighting the role of digital transformation, Ms. Zara A. Sanchez of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Agusan del Norte presented strategies on social media marketing, e-commerce, and online advertising. She encouraged farmers to use digital platforms to promote their products, connect with customers, and strengthen their entrepreneurial presence.
