CAGWAIT, Surigao del Sur - Participated by 100 children who are mostly members of the Indigenous Peoples groups, the second wave of the Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) XIII Outreach Program dubbed as "Himsog nga Kabataan, Malipayong Katilingban" was successfully conducted at Mam-on Elementary School, Brgy. Tubo-Tubo on July 12, 2024.
The program aims to promote and raise awareness of healthy nutrition and food security practices in every Filipino household. It was participated by 100 children in the said barangay.
Participants were oriented on the importance of a well-balanced diet emphasizing healthy and nutritious food groups. They also received kits composed of tumblers, tote bags, pencils, and envelopes. The institute also provided healthy snacks and lunch.
Present during the one-day activity were Brgy. Captain Jecris Luna, Municipal Agriculturist Neptali Palero, Municipal Nutrition Action Officer Ginalyn Buyog, School Principal Eric Palingcod, resource persons Arlene Montecillo and Rocela Tubo, and 1st Lt. John Dave Ventura of the 75th Infantry Division Charlie and Company.
The said one-day outreach program was implemented under the Center's Gender and Development Program in partnership with the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist - Surigao del Sur and the Municipal Agriculture Office of Cagwait.
