PROSPERIDAD, Agusan del Sur – Twenty-eight (28) Barangay Animal Health Workers and livestock raisers from Agusan del Sur completed a three-day Training on Animal Health Care and Management held on August 26–28, 2025, at the Hygiea IntegraMeds Center, Patin-ay, Prosperidad.
It aimed to equip the participants with the knowledge and skills needed for the proper care, treatment, and management of both domestic and farm-based animals. It was implemented by ATI-RTC XIII through the National Livestock Program (NLP) to strengthen the capabilities of Barangay Animal Health Workers, Biosecurity Officers, and local livestock raisers.
The training covered the Animal Welfare Act, Basic Animal Health Care Services, History Taking, Ethnoveterinary Medicine, proper administration of injectable and oral medicine, and the importance of biosecurity at the barangay level. Sessions were facilitated by Dr. Edessa Jeane A. Hijara, Meat Control Officer II; Dr. Llewelyn P. Gelacio Jr., Veterinarian I; and Dr. Konielou M. Berdin, Veterinarian IV of the Provincial Veterinary Office–Agusan del Sur.
Participants also conducted hands-on activities, including the preparation of ethnoveterinary medicine, the administration of medicine to chickens and goat, and blood sampling of swine at the Prosperidad Slaughterhouse.
