MAINIT, Surigao del Norte – Over 50 rice farmers in Mainit, Surigao del Norte, gained valuable knowledge of the Rice Crop Manager (RCM) tool during a briefing held on February 11, 2025, at the Municipal Agriculture Office in Brgy. Magpayang. The event was hosted by the Agricultural Training Institute - Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) XIII, through its Information Services Section.

The RCM, a web-based tool developed through a collaboration between the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) and the Department of Agriculture (DA), offers personalized recommendations for crop management and nutrient use, ultimately contributing to increased yields and improved farmer incomes.

Municipal Agriculturist Engr. Antonio Peñaflor emphasized the crucial role of understanding rice cultivation for effective fertilization management, highlighting how the RCM can be a valuable asset in this process. Moreover, Agricultural Technologist Decemboy Tiu from Cabadbaran City provided a detailed overview of the RCM, explaining its functionalities and demonstrating its practical applications for rice farmers and underscored the importance of adopting modern technologies and best practices to enhance agricultural productivity and ensure sustainable farming practices in the region.

Maria Den Parro and Ressell Angelie Fetalsana, both from ATI-RTC XIII, were present and provided support to the participating farmers. With the assistance of Caraga State University Bachelor of Agricultural Technology interns, 69 personalized fertilizer recommendations were generated through individual farmer interviews.
