SURIGAO CITY – The Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) XIII, in collaboration with the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) Caraga, hosted a mid-assessment meeting for the School-on-the-Air (SOA) program focused on coconut production. This event brought together the provincial and municipal coordinators from Surigao del Sur, Surigao del Norte, and the Province of Dinagat Islands to evaluate the program's progress.
The activity was held at E.Y. Miner Suites, Surigao City, on August 14, 2024. It served as a venue for harmonizing issues and concerns regarding the SOA as it reached the first half of implementation.
During the meeting, provincial coordinators highlighted several challenges they faced while implementing the SOA in local government units (LGUs). Common issues included delayed submissions of documents and reports, unscheduled power interruptions, and poor radio reception.
Jason Paul Dads E. Jampac, OIC Chief of the Information Services Section (ISS) of ATI-RTC 13, acknowledged the support of the provincial and municipal local government units of Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and the Province of Dinagat Islands in the implementation of the school-on-the-air (SOA) on Coconut Production.
Additionally, Surigao del Norte Provincial Agriculturist Ruby Ann S. Lagahit encouraged agricultural extension workers to continue promoting the processing of coconut and other commodities into food products to enhance their market value.
The coordinators agreed to hold a post-assessment in the last week of September in preparation for the mass graduation ceremony.
