LOS ANGELES, Butuan City – It’s April and it’s the time of year when the country celebrates Filipino Food Month (FFM). And just like last year, the Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Centers (ATI-RTCs) will be showcasing different Filipino cuisines with the aim of preserving and promoting Filipino culinary traditions to future generations and supporting the various industries, farmers, and agri-communities.

This year, ATI-RTC 13 will demonstrate how to prepare three famous recipes using glutinous rice or sticky rice or Malagkit (in Filipino) as the main ingredient. These recipes include Caraga’s own version of Sapin-sapin, Espasol, and Kalamay Kapit. Dubbed as Yum-thing Sticky: A Triple Treat with Malagkit, the pre-recorded video will be hosted by Rejane Ata, RCEF technical staff, who will introduce guest cook and young entrepreneur Edgar B. Clarite of De Ban Kakanin sa Bilao.

The cooking demonstration is pre-recorded and will be aired via Facebook at 2:00 pm on April 12, 2022. On April 1, the video shooting took place at the ATI-RTC 13 dormitory lobby. Other ATI-RTCs will also be featuring their own local cuisines and will be aired on different dates in the month of April.

The FFM or Buwan ng Kalutong Pilipino was declared by virtue of Presidential Proclamation no. 469 signed by President Rodrigo Duterte in 2018.

The Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Tourism (DOT), National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), and the Philippine Culinary Heritage Movement (PCHM) are leading the celebration with the theme “Pagkaing Pilipino, Susi sa Pag-unlad at Pagbabago.”
