TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur – With its goal to empower the agriculture sector at the barangay level, the Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) XIII conducted the fifth batch of Capability Enhancement Training for Barangay Agricultural Workers (BAWs) and Barangay Animal Health Workers (BAHWs) on July 4-6, 2023 at Shacene Pension House and Restaurant.

The three-day training aimed to enhance the soft skills and strengthen the capability of the newly-hired BAWs and BAHWs who are considered as work partners of the Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) and the Local Government Units (LGUs).

It was participated by 19 individuals from the municipalities of Marihatag and San Agustin and City of Tandag in Surigao del Sur. They were able to hear topics on the roles and responsibilities of being a BAW/BAHWs, values formation, self-awareness, leadership, gender issues, and responsible human communication.

Resource persons from the Provincial Veterinary Office were Supervising Agriculturist Norbert Yu Jr., Ruben Mananquil, Rodelo Madiano, Adhem Espineli, Emmylou Calilan, and Coneda Galela.

Partakers also learned the importance of self-awareness, values formation, and gender issues that would affect the decision-making of one person towards self and work were explained by Novalil Tubo from the City Social Welfare Office of Cabadbaran City, Agusan del Norte.

They also shared their experiences during the discussion of responsible communication with Ressell Angelie Fetalsana, Information Officer II of ATI-RTC XIII.

The said training was done under the Gender and Development (GAD) Program of ATI-RTC XIII.
