SUKAILANG, Surigao City – Being one in advocacy of strengthening the information network in the region, the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center 13 participated in the Harmonization Workshop conducted by the Department of Agriculture – Regional Agriculture and Fisheries Information Section (DA-RAFIS), August 14-16, 2023 at the JB Nature Farm and Resort.

Ms. Emmylou T. Presilda, DA-RAFIS Chief, emphasized that the DA’s goal is to develop a strategic approach to disseminating information to ensure its accuracy and effectiveness. She also presented the core functions and highlighted the multi-media information services initiated and maintained by RAFIS. These include audio-video production, agrivisory text blasts, and the production and distribution of print materials through the Civil Society Organization’s Agri Info Corner, among others.

Information officers from the DA attached agencies and bureaus, namely the National Irrigation Administration, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, ATI, Philippine Rice Research Institute, Philippine Coconut Authority, National Food Authority, and Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority attended the event. Also present are farm casters from the Provincial Agriculture Office and Provincial Veterinary Office – Surigao del Sur, Provincial Veterinary Office – Surigao del Sur, and City Agriculture Office – Bislig City. The participants shared their agencies’ updates and accomplishments.

On the second day, a workshop on communication audit was conducted, to identify a venue for agency collaboration. The participants listed their communication expertise and the programs currently in place. They also identified various communication tools, and the platforms that the agency has used.
