AEWs capacitated on goat production, management

PROSPERIDAD, Agusan del Sur – Putting importance of meat and dairy products from livestock animals, the Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC) XIII, through the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP), conducted the Training of Trainers on Goat Production and Management (Phase I) on October 9–13, 2023, at the Hygeia IntegraMeds Center.

There were 21 individuals who participated in the five-day training from the different municipalities and cities in the region composed of Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs), Community Development Officers, and Learning Site for Agriculture (LSA) Cooperators.

Resource persons from the Department of Agriculture – Caraga Region and the Provincial Veterinary Office of Agusan del Sur delivered the topics on animal breeding and genetic improvement, animal husbandry practices, animal health care, economics of goat production, marketing, and insight enhancement.

“This training retracted the theoretical learnings in my academic years. Thus, improved my knowledge, especially in the basic management of goat raising. As an agriculturist, I will continue to serve the nation and be proof that agriculture is the mother of all industries,” says Jayson S. Peñaloga, one of the participants and an Agricultural Technologist from Trento, Agusan del Sur.
