BUTUAN CITY – As the first semester of academic year 2021-2022 ends, the 14 grantees of the Educational Assistance for the Youth in Agriculture (EAsY-Agri) convened for its semestral assessment last February 11, 2022 via Zoom.

While the grantees evaluated the overall implementation of the scholarship intervention, they also recalled the challenges of the flexible learning system under the new normal and how well they adapted.

“During the early part of the semester, we still encountered some difficulties in maintaining contacts with few instructors for updating the status of submission of academic requirements and learning modules. We are grateful for the gradual lifting of travel restrictions on the later part and so we were able to visit the school for follow-ups,” said Khymbirly S. Caoile, a scholar from Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology in Bunawan, Agusan del Sur.

The grantees summed up the evaluation through the prescribed semestral assessment form which focused on the following aspects: school and teachers’ performance evaluation; scholars’ self-evaluation of his/her personal performance; and, the overall management of the scholarship by the host-RTC.

Part of the activities was the election of officers, updating on the status of enrollment and submission of grades, sharing of socio-civic involvements of the grantees, and learning sessions through trivia quizzes and games facilitated by the grantees.

Scholarship Point Person Mary Grace B. Salve reminded the grantees of their obligations and responsibilities as well as their privileges. She emphasized the need to submit the requirements for the timely provision of their allowances and stipends.

Salve mentioned that the EAsY Agri scholarship intervention is expected to cater new batch of grantees by the first semester of the academic year 2022-2023 awaiting the release of the updated guidelines.
