RGADC Secretariat Edson Alijo presents the program flow for the Women’s Summit.

BUTUAN CITY – The Regional Development Council – Regional Gender and Development Committee (RDC- RGADC) conducted the joint Gender & Women Economic Empowerment (GenderWEE) and Gender, Health and Environment (GHE) Subcommittees Meeting to discuss and set the activities for the upcoming Women’s month celebration this March.

As a member of the RDC-RGADC, the Agricultural Training Institute- Regional Training Center 13 represented by GAD program Point Person Paula Mae A. Creencia participated in the meeting via Zoom on February 10, 2022.

The RGADC Secretariat Edson Alijo of the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) presented that this year’s theme would still be “We Make Change Work for Women,” with subtheme: Agenda ng Kababaihan, Tungo sa Kaunlaran.

Among the agreements reached during the meeting include: The conduct of Women’s Summit on March 8, 2022 coinciding the International Women’s Day; Recognition of Outstanding Women such as Mga Juanang Bida sa Pandemya by the Department of Interior and Local Government, Outstanding Rural Women of the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Agrarian Reform, Outstanding Women Entrepreneurs of the Department of Trade and Industry, and the Outstanding Women Volunteers of the Population Commission; Conduct of government services orientation such as tax payments during the pandemic, digital marketing, vaccination for children, among others; and, government services booths such as beauty care services of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, family planning counseling services, etc. The kick-off activity will be held on March 1, 2022.

They also agreed that the celebration will be culminated through an outreach activity by the distribution of goods within Agusan del Norte which will be coordinated with the Provincial Local Government Unit and Non-Government Organizations.

Women’s Month which is celebrated every month of March served as a venue to highlight women’s achievement and discuss continuing gender and development issues and challenges. (With the report of P. Creencia)
