The Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center 2 conducted the Training on Basic Agriculture and Basic Food Production on November 21-23, 2022 at ATI-RTC 02, Malasin, San Mateo, Isabela. Twenty members or representatives of Community-Based Food Garden beneficiaries attended the training.

The training aims to enhance the participant's knowledge, skills, and attitude on basic agriculture and food production.

They learned about the importance of a backyard integrated farming system, the establishment of Food Always in the Home or FAITH gardening; concepts, benefits, types, and cultural management of urban gardening; composting; natural farming input or NFI’s preparation; and free-range chicken production thru lectures, participatory discussion, and demonstration.

The establishment of community-based food gardens is one of the components of the ATI food security program which aims to showcase basic food production using various technologies in the community and encourage every household to engage in home gardening.

Trainees were able to establish vermicomposting piles, and produced mushroom fruiting bags, fermented juices, and natural feeds.
